Haines Airport

Airport Environment

The Haines Airport Is the primary airport serving the Haines, Klukwan, Haines Borough area and is situated on the Haines Highway, directly adjacent to the Chilkat River. Haines is one of only three communities in Southeast Alaska connected by the highway system; however, it is only accessible from Canada and often subject to winter closures. The airport is located in a wide channel with aircraft usually arriving from the south. Mountainous terrain exists on both sides of the airport. Due to these terrain features, turbulence and low weather conditions are common during operations.

NavShare Offering

The RNAV (GPS) P RWY 26 Special procedure was designed to increase access to the Haines Airport during inclement weather conditions, which are common in the Haines area. It utilizes satellite-based guidance with WAAS technology to provide precise navigation to and from the runway environment. A new RNAV departure to complement the approach has been developed and will be available soon.
