STEAMBOAT SPRINGS AIRPORT/BOB ADAMS FIELD

(KSBS)

Airport Environment

Steamboat Springs Airport, also known as Bob Adams Field, is the primary airport serving Steamboat Springs and the surrounding Yampa Valley region. Located along Elk River Road, the airport is situated in a high-altitude valley (elevation 6,882’) surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, including the prominent Sleeping Giant and Mount Werner. The airport provides access to world class skiing at the nearby Steamboat Ski resort. The mountainous terrain and high elevation contribute to frequent turbulence, variable winds, and rapidly changing weather, particularly during winter months. The city is accessible via U.S. Highway 40, though winter conditions can affect road travel. Aircraft typically approach from the southeast, navigating the confined valley environment.

NavShare Offering

The RNAV (GPS) M RWY 32 procedure was designed to improve access to Steamboat Springs Airport during adverse weather conditions, which are common in this mountainous region. Leveraging satellite-based guidance with WAAS technology, this procedure provides  precise navigation to the runway environment with a stabilized 3.70 degree glidepath supporting up to CAT C operations.  An RNAV departure procedure is available to support safe departures.

Note: Requires RNP 0.30 and Radius to Fix (RF) capabilities. A special Navigation Database may be required.
